Trace the tax behind your salary
Tax Year 2026-27 calculations use versioned rules where supported and disclose when a case falls outside SalaryPath scope.
Use the core income-tax engine for salary tax, then drill into TDS, taxable income, rebate, cess and deduction-planning views without creating conflicting tax logic.
How SalaryPath separates tax questions
The tax section uses one versioned salary-tax engine where possible so the same gross salary does not produce conflicting answers across different pages. The main income-tax calculator estimates supported annual salary tax, while the old-vs-new regime page runs the same inputs through both regime structures for comparison.
The supporting tools isolate one part of the calculation: taxable income, standard deduction, Section 87A rebate, health and education cess, HRA exemption and TDS equivalent. This makes it easier to understand why a final tax number changes when salary, regime or deductions change.
SalaryPath does not claim to be a full return-preparation system. Special-rate income, unsupported surcharge cases, business income and deductions outside the implemented scope can require separate treatment. Use the source links and warnings when the calculator says a case is only partially supported.
Checks before relying on the result
- Use the main tax calculator for annual liability
- Use regime comparison before assuming one regime is better
- Treat monthly TDS as payroll planning, not a guaranteed monthly deduction
