How this calculator works
What it does
This calculator applies a chosen increment percentage to an existing annual salary and shows the new annual and monthly equivalent. It is useful when the percentage is known and the user wants the resulting pay figure.
Calculation
New annual salary equals current annual salary × (1 + increment percentage ÷ 100). The annual increase is the difference between the two amounts, and the monthly equivalent is the new annual salary divided by 12.
Example
A ₹10 lakh annual salary with an 8% increment becomes ₹10.8 lakh, an increase of ₹80,000 per year. The gross monthly equivalent rises from about ₹83,333 to ₹90,000 before tax and deductions.
Before relying on it
An increment percentage is not the same as the increase in take-home pay. PF, variable compensation, income tax and changes to the salary structure can make the bank-credit increase smaller or larger than a simple percentage comparison suggests.
