Why your in-hand is lower than CTC
The gap is usually a mix of employer-side components and employee deductions.
Employer PF, gratuity, insurance and variable components can sit inside CTC without arriving as monthly cash. Employee PF, professional tax and income tax can then reduce gross cash salary further.
That is why SalaryPath Quick Mode shows a range when only CTC is known.
The gap between headline CTC and bank credit
The first part of the gap often comes from employer-side components that are included in CTC but not paid as monthly salary. Employer PF, gratuity, insurance and target variable pay can all raise the headline package without increasing the ordinary monthly cash component by the same amount.
The second part comes from employee-side deductions. Employee PF, professional tax where applicable and income tax reduce gross cash salary before the bank credit is received. Bonus timing, joining month and payroll tax adjustments can make individual months differ from a simple annual average.
That is why SalaryPath first separates CTC from gross cash salary and then applies supported deductions. If only CTC is known, the tool shows a range because the missing employer structure is a real uncertainty rather than something that should be guessed away.
Checks before relying on the result
- Identify non-cash employer components inside CTC
- Separate employee deductions from employer costs
- Expect bonus and tax-adjustment months to differ from the annual average
